First Man on Mars

First Man on Mars
by Jason Farnham

Lyrics:

The red planet Mars was named after the Roman god of war
it is the 3rd smallest planet in the solar system
Mars is 35 million miles away from the Earth at its closest point
the average surface temperature on Mars is -54 degrees F
gravity on Mars is one-third that of the Earth
yellow clouds in the atmosphere create dust storms on the surface
Mars is a desolate, dry planet on which no life exists, until now

dreaming of you, I'm waiting for love
here all alone, I'm losing control
heaven below and heaven above
thinking of you, I'm waiting for love

it would take three years to successfully complete a human mission to Mars
in space travel there is a danger of cosmic radiation
and radio contact with the Earth is scarce
the red planet takes nearly two Earth years to revolve around the Sun

dreaming of you, I'm waiting for love
here all alone, I'm losing control
heaven below and heaven above
thinking of you, I'm waiting for love

I am a little man with big plans
I come from little towns with safe hands
all of my little friends so far away
all of my troubles only yesterday
I am a little man with big plans
I come from little towns with safe hands
all of my little friends so far away
all of my troubles only yesterday

dreaming of you, I'm waiting for love
here all alone, I'm losing control
heaven below and heaven above
thinking of you, I'm waiting for love
