Disabused

The first time
is when he thinks he knows your body
better than you do.
It won’t hurt.
You won’t bleed.
You’ll like it.

The first time’s
a pair of socks
posing as frankincense and myrrh.

The first time’s
because he wants it
and everybody’s doing it
and after all, what are balls for?

Like policemen,
the first time is getting younger.

The first time’s
grope
poke
pull out
zip up
goodbye.

The first time
is lightning
ripping the hymen
of the sky
