When I went looking for you the first time I thought it would be easy: leave some food out on the counter and in the few hours I would walk around the block, you'd be back, tired, but looking at me with satisfied eyes. It didn't occur to me then that you might be feeling disenfranchised with our relationship, that you could be actively seeking a new life. But maybe that's because I was ignoring the signs. Or more accurately, because I was ignoring you.
