FILM WINNER:

This piece, one in a series called "Tales of Mere Existence," is a charmingly wonderful match of form and content. A mundane trip to the video store, sketched in pencil and paper before our eyes, becomes painfully uncomfortable as the couple depicted can't agree on what to watch. Nothing really happens, nothing is resolved, but a lot is revealed about the relationship. I found it a very good use of the limits imposed by a short film. A halting, bland but funny little world emerged in a matter of seconds. More than that, it's quite unlike anything I've seen from other artists, and that is something I truly appreciate.
